The owners of Fort Dodge’s oldest ice cream shop will soon be entering the coffee business.
Jo and Rich Seltz, owners of the Dariette, announced Tuesday night that they had purchased Central Perk and Dessert, 14 S. 14th St., from Darcy Lee.
“We have great things to come in 2022”, said a post on Dariette’s Facebook page. âCentral Perk is able to meet all of your coffee needs, from latte to iced coffee, even just a classic filter coffee. They also have baked goods and serve lunches.
The Seltz family have promised more updates to come.
La Dariette has been in Fort Dodge since 1947.
Meanwhile, Lee announced that she will be retiring now that she has sold the business.
âIt has been a sincere pleasure for my family to bring you the kind of coffee and coffee you deserve,â she said in a Facebook post. âThe shop has served you the freshest roasted coffee for 11 years. But the idea of ââcoffee had been conceived many years ago. You welcomed my family to Fort Dodge 20 years ago and treated us like old friends and family. We are truly grateful for your friendship.
Lee is confident that the new owners will continue the café’s success.
“I can’t think of a better family to take our coffee to in the future” she said. “They will take great care of you.”
Lee assured customers that Kaleb Ferry, whom she described as her “Additional son” will still be at the drive-thru each morning to remember customers’ coffee orders.
“I could not have run this cafe without my right arm” Lee said. âYou won’t find a better barista. I will miss seeing you every morning and ‘living the dream’ as you like to say. You, sir, have been a dream employee.
Lee added, âWith that, my friends, I’m officially retired. It’s time for me to spend more time with my family and pets. I love you all; Thanks for the memories. “
